My students are primarily K-6th grade public elementary school within the Flint Community Schools in Flint, Michigan. As many people k ow, the city of Flint has had a rough time, with the ongoing water crisis, unemployment when many of the auto manufacturers left, and crime rates. Those left here, that still choose Flint Community Schools are trying. While there are 60 students whom I directly provide Speech-Language services to, I am part of a school with between 600-700 students who see me daily in the building (at lunchtime, buses, school activities, etc.) While many are still waiting for water pipes to their homes to be fixed, they cannot drink, cook, bathe, brush their teeth, or wash things in the water from their homes. And we have recently become aware that the pipes to the schools aren't included in the replacement plan! These kids are facing a lot in their daily lives. Please help them!
