My students attend an urban high school with a student population of around 2100. The majority of our students are on free or reduced lunch and many are immigrants or first generation Americans. They face many challenges in their day to day lives and most have jobs after school to help their families make ends meet. For our students, school is an escape. It is a safe place that they can come to have two meals a day, see friendly adult role models and, most importantly, to learn.
