I teach a group of first graders who are smart, funny, and interactive learners. My students love technology and are very much 21st century learners. They live in an interactive world. Our school is a low income school with diverse learners. Our school does have a computer lab which we are able to use once a week and we are considered an iSchool in our district. We have a cart of iPod touches we are able to use once a week which has increased engagement and motivation. Having a set to use in a small group would be very beneficial for my students. Jones stated, 鈥淭he increased use of technology has helped ignite excitement in teaching and learning while building students鈥 critical-thinking and problem solving skills,鈥 (2007, pg 37). This would allow my students to increase math and literacy skills while building problem solving skills which will increase their success in the classroom and outside of the classroom and become lifelong learners.
