Math literacy will help students use numbers to solve real world problems. Literacy also provides students with the ability to understand the language of math. For example, "difference" means an answer to subtract and "sum" means an answer to addition.
I strive to promote literacy in math. The Balance Ball Seat will be used by students to easily assign themselves to view word problems and real world scenarios from our math book projected on the whiteboard. The dry erase markers will aid in students use of dry erase boards to journal write their thoughts. The teacher can do a quick check of whiteboards as an exit ticket to check for understanding. Student privacy boards will be used so students can do homework and study in private. The cart organizer will be used to store student math reflections spectated by class period. Tape will be used so students can tape foldables in their interactive notebook and math journals.
