Creativity and imagination time are often pushed to the side in today's classroom to meet all the required testing items and standards. Students need a chance to be creative and try things on their own while learning the needed skills in a classroom. Learning by doing, and learning to "bouncing back" from our mistakes and failures is a skill that students often do get to practice. Anxiety is on the rise with students, often because they lack confidence or don't know how to deal with failure. Students will gain confidence and feel empowered when they are able to use these circuit and coding materials to build and design something on their own. If the light does not turn on, why?! Is there a bad connection, is their not enough power? If you never face failure, you don't know how to deal with it. Learning that there is more than one way to design something is OK. We need to understand that there are often many ways to achieve the desired outcome, and just because one may be different does not mean it is wrong.
