My students come from varying backgrounds and socioeconomic statuses. Over half of my students speak English as a second language. I teach in a Title 1 school. My students are eager to learn but more often than not do not receive the support that they need at home. They are so excited when something clicks for them. I have found that it is easier for ELLs to make great gains in mathematics since numbers are universal. I would love to help these students increase their addition and subtraction fact knowledge in order to build a strong foundation for future math learning.
