My goal as an educator is to inspire students and to give them ownership over their learning. One of the ways our fourth grade class would like to do this is by giving each student the opportunity to use technology to enhance their learning. Our school resides in a low-income community and a majority of our students do not have access to technological devices such as tablets.
We would love to have a class set of iPads for our classroom so that students can organize student-led portfolios and really dig into learning! Our students will be able to add photos and videos of their work, to show others of their progress! Students get to proudly show off their work and share it instantly with their parents. Learning doesn’t stop when we leave the classroom, and letting students create their own portfolios will help them continue that learning with parents at home.
By using an iPad students are able to access a variety of digital resources in order to improve their understanding in core educational concepts. The use of technology helps students to get familiar with tablets and technology-specific terms that are used in the community (cloud, onedrive, email, research, internet, app). The iPads provide access to a 21st century skill that is essential in order to be successful in our modern day.
Thank you for your support. We are so excited to have the opportunity to enhance our learning through technology.
