Our fifth, sixth, and seventh graders are participating in Project Lit this year with the goal of reading to strengthen our understanding of the world and the people around us. These books are sparking phenomenal conversations and are already sparking change in our thinking and actions. We are using this book club as a platform for reform in our school, classroom and in our community.
With these titles, which include They Called us Enemy, Prairie Lotus, and Maybe He Just Likes You, we will be reading about consent, identity, racism, and friendship. As we read about these topics, we gain understanding, empathy and drive to do and be better. Using our strength as readers, we will become better citizens of the world.
