As an ELA teacher, you are always looking for new ways to engage your kids in reading. So my summer break was spent devouring young adult literature.
When I read “The Crossover” by Kwame Alexander, my thought bubble was filled with a room full of middle schoolers who groaned when they had to put the book down for the day.
This book will be high interest for my reluctant readers but will still be enjoyed by even my kids who eat books for breakfast. The fact that the story is written in verse will open a world of lesson plans for author's craft.
