I believe that flexible seating will allow my students to feel calm, safe, and engaged in my classroom. The items I have chosen are ones that I have use with former students in similar grades. I was amazed at how a simple change in their seating choice allowed them to be more successful. This is why I have chosen wobble chairs and cushions, a stand up desk, chair bands, a stability chair, and calming cushions. The flexible seating items that I have selected will give my students the option to find a space or a tool where they feel like they will be focused and ready to learn. Students can sit, stand, or wobble during lessons, workshop time, or a mindful break. This is just the beginning of creating a 21st century classroom environment. Out with the plastic chairs, and in with the balancing balls!
