I teach a bilingual 3rd grade class in a lively, low-income neighborhood in Chicago. My students come from communities plagued by poverty, violence, and homelessness, yet this would not be apparent upon meeting these bright, young scholars. My students enter my classroom excited and ready to learn, and I in turn do my best to prepare them for college & careers.
