"When am I ever going to use this in real life?," said almost every student ever. My students need to make connections between their learning in math class and life after school. They need motivation on why learning each topic is necessary for success. Students make connections by creating and experiencing, not by being told.
My students will use Kindle Fires to DISCOVER the connections between mathematics and life after school. They will use apps such as Flipgrid to create videos to justify their thinking. They will use Goosechase to go on a scavenger hunt to find 3 examples of right angles in the school and be able to explain why they are necessary for the stability of the building. Students will also use Kahoot, Discovery Education, and many more.
