Dear Community Friends:
I am an Early Childhood educator at an inner-city public school, serving children aged 3-5 with special needs. These children present with language and/or developmental delays and are recommended to begin schooling early, in hopes to return to mainstream classrooms in near future.
At this tender age, children learn mainly through play. We build on skills by hands-on experiences through multiple modalities. Social and adaptive skills are reinforced throughout the day. We use a lot of materials for our learning, especially consumables like art supplies. Over time, furniture, equipment, and supplies wear out. With constant budget cuts, teachers continue to pay for things out of pocket. We are glad that you and Donors Choose come to rescue! We cannot thank you enough for your generosity and kind heart. Do know that children continue to thrive because of you!
Sincerely,
F. Wu-Hom
