We love learning through STEAM. In this project I am emphasizing the practice of Engineering. Students will plan, build and rebuild if needed. As an example, I will give the students a task and they will need to plan and build with a partner. Did they accomplish the task? If not, that's alright, I always give time to redesign and build when needed. Tasks would include the structure being able to hold a certain amount of weight or stand up to different degrees of "wind" such as a fan, hairdryer or leaf blower. And of course, because we live in a cold climate with snow at times, I would also use these tools for free exploration during a time of "indoor recess." I feel free exploration and the ability to create without a task is equally important, imaginations are amazing!
