My yearbook students are high-poverty students in a rural district. Through their motivation and determination, they produce a quality product using only six antique P4 computers and one Nikon DSLR that's on its last shots (we "won" it in 2011).
While they're motivated, dedicated, and pragmatic, these students deserve equipment similar to that of their peers in other high schools.
They'll put this camera good use! I am amazed with the quality of photography they produce while having to tape a battery case shut, manually focusing, and dealing with a dysfunctional light sensor. If we put proper tools in their hands, there is no doubt this group of students will turn out career-starting work and pay it forward for years to come!
