Amidst the comprehension skills, reading strategies and habits of discussion learned along the way, the students in my ESL and Bilingual classes have shown tremendous progress towards grade level standards and (not to my surprise) truly enjoy reading!
Your donation would help our classroom attain 25 copies of "Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone," which will be used by 3 sections of a 4th grade class. Since the majority of my students are Bilingual and ESL, being able to physically hold the book while we read together as a class each day is pivotal for their engagement and vocabulary acquisition.
Having their own copy not only allows the opportunity for myself and students to model fluency but students will be able to refer back to the text while analyzing the book, working on comprehension skills and strengthening their arguments.
We can't wait to begin reading this fun, challenging, and captivating book!
