All of my students want to be able to read at the fifth grade level and be the greatest mathematicians. Our class supplies are limited to a few high-interest books and some basic math manipulatives. Most of our resources are photocopies and teacher-made games. By providing my students with their own Daily Practice Journals, in both math and reading, they will be able to practice much-needed skills on their own and in collaborative groups. The games will allow them to practice socialization skills, team building skills and build an overall love for learning. They will see that we can learn using interactive and fun material.
All of these resources will create a spark for learning and set the tone for the year!
I have seen first-hand how important it is for students to work together and have a sense of ownership for their learning. We will be fostering lifelong learners and building relationships that will last all year.
