The SCERTS Model is a systematic approach to enhancing the communication and social-emotional abilities of young children with autism spectrum disorder. SCERTS refers to Social Communication, Emotional Regulation, and Transactional Support, which are the main areas in which kiddos with ASD need support and skill instruction.
The model allows me and the teachers to observe, teach, and reinforce super specific skills as small as a child's ability to tune into emotional changes in their communication partners. Having access to the materials and a way to quickly track, and update our tasks will make it so we can help these awesome kiddos gain the exact social communication skill they need next. As they grow our whole school will benefit from the amazing ideas, thoughts, questions, opinions, and fun that these kiddos are currently struggling to share with us.
