Our School is an open lottery school. Students from all walks of life and socio-economic backgrounds enter our doors. The students and parents are full of a desire to do more and to make more of their lives than the average Joe. Parents spend many many hours in support of their students. Without their support the Band and Orchestra program would have shut down years ago. The students are often forced to purchase instruments on their own if they wish to play in Band or Orchestra because we do not have enough to go around. Many students are not able to participate in band because they cannot afford an instrument and we cannot provide one for them. But some of our students are so dedicated that they have volunteered to work on learning another instrument until the instrument they would like to play is available. But through all the shuffling the students attend class with a smile and a fever for music.
