Reading opens up young minds to the possibility of the future, and when you incorporate history, it ties the present to the past. I want my students to not only have access to current events, but also to read engaging material that addresses our multicultural heritage. As I set up my classroom library I want the students to have a comfortable environment. I love to curl up on a rainy day. Its kind of hard for my students to do so in hard chairs. I want to create a reading nook that is inviting, and comfortable. To do this I will incorporate comfortable seating, such as pillows, shag rugs, and bean bag seats.
These items will be used in station rotations where they will read for both education and enjoyment.
