I want to help my students by building a new classroom library that accurately represents them. Many of the reading materials in my project include culturally and linguistically diverse topics and social-emotional problem solving. As well as, headphones for proper accommodations and modifications, fidgets for the calm down area of social-emotional needs, and more school supplies that will provide a comfortable learning environment for my students.
Students will be able to connect with stories that include and represent them. With new books, earphones/headphones, and supplies for a reading area in my classroom, students will be eager to read!
Due to COVID, many students have fallen behind on academic content standards. For students with disabilities, there is a greater academic drop. With the combination of my student's learning difficulties and academic COVID effects, my students have had trouble adjusting to school. I want to make this transition as smooth as possible by guiding them through literary and informational text content standard (RL.6.1 - RL.6.10 and RI.6.1 - RI.6.10).
My students would greatly appreciate the multi-cultural books, technology for text-to-speech, fidgets for stress and anxiety, and school supplies for their classroom necessities.
