The one thing that I found while teaching Early Head Start is that there is not enough emphasis on teaching science. With the requested items I will take my students outside to explore nature ( they especially love insects ). After collecting the necessary materials and information we will return to the classroom to not only discuss what we found, but also recreate our finds in the Art room. If we can keep some of Natural Science in our room we will be able to observe and share what we have learned. My students have been virtual, but are coming back to the classroom ! I love introducing my 2-3 year olds to life science ! It is amazing to watch them as they become beginner scientist. I take them outside with science tools, so they can explore. At first they are a little apprehensive, but it doesn't take long before their curiosity turns to excitement. We then go back to our classroom and create ! We bring what we discovered in our outside classroom, into our inside classroom. The parents love the things that they create and bring home. One year I had a 28 month old carry a lunar moth home ! She was so proud ! At meal time my students would save their seeds and carry them home ! Wow !
