I have 16 students in my special education classroom that range from grades 6-8 , and have diagnosis ranging from: Autism, Down Syndrome, mild, moderate and severe cognitive delays, Rhett Syndrome, as well as motor and communication impairments. Students in my classroom work on academic skills as well as life skills that prepare them for adulthood in society. These skills include, but are not limited to: number identification, matching, sorting, counting, identifying and counting money, reading,following directions, sequencing, and appropriate interactions with others. Each student has an individualized education plan that is developed to help them to function appropriately, not only in the school environment but also in the community.
