Sit or stand desks have been a part of my flexible seating for 3 years now. Students love the freedom of being able to make choices about their learning environment. The problem is that I have been making my own using everything from sturdy moving boxes to bed risers. Every year, I decide that "this is the year" that I'm going to splurge for my students. By the time I buy all the basic supplies that students weren't able to get, the splurge becomes unrealistic.
Being able to provide students with "real," adjustable sit or stand desks and wobble stools will encourage them to accept more responsibility for their learning. These materials would also transform the look and feel of our classroom. Students would feel empowered knowing their community is invested in their learning.
