I teach a self-contained classroom in a small school district in Oklahoma. My class is full of 22 very lively students in love with reading! These students range from autistic to ESL to a selective mute to way above the average reading level and everywhere in between. They all enjoy reading and being read to.
During quiet reading time, centers, and after daily work, my reading center is always crammed with students reading to themselves, each other, and to stuffed animal buddies. Some groups write, some draw...this one READS! They read almost every chance they get.
