My students are low income, mostly Hispanic, and eager learners. My school is a Title 1 school that's currently in a turn around program here in Texas. Majority of my students came to me unable to identify letter sounds let alone able to read. They have a hard time keeping up with their materials and they have missing assignments. This causes them to have failing grades.
