This is my first project request; I am requesting books in a variety of genres to amp up my classroom reading library to suit all learners. These genres will include fiction, non-fiction, cultural and holiday, fables and fairy tales, and STEM topics. This will provide my students the opportunity to experience the joy of reading different genres.
My project will provide a variety of books to build a literate classroom culture and to establish a love for reading. My wish for my students is that they can choose books based on his/her own interest. This will help establish a solid reading foundation. I feel the culture of reading with these books will create book talks that they can share with other classmates. My students will be able to access these books throughout the year in our reading classroom library. These books will be used to build reading foundation skills and inspire written reading responses in my young writers. By exposing my students to a variety of genres, the students can begin to identify which genres they enjoy the most and develop high interest reads. Many of my students do not have access to books in their home. This project will help bridge that gap.
