This year, I am one of the English teachers teaching ninth grade ELA in an inner-city high school. I teach about 45 students, and I love them dearly. They each have such unique personalities and senses of humor that they bring into my classroom. Many of them are quiet but with the biggest hearts you'll ever meet. The ones that aren't quiet you can hear coming down the hall from a mile away.
Even in a pandemic, I count myself as one of the lucky teachers that got a good portion of students to attend their classes every day.
They kept me involved in their lives, and they were always so polite whenever they joined or left my classroom for the day. I even still have my previous year's students popping in to say hi once a week!
"Miss, I'm going to stop by your classroom next year; you can count on it!"
