Hi! My name is Heather, and I'm a teacher at Royal Palm Middle School (GO RAIDERS!) I teach a group of students who are very close to my heart. They are kiddos with Emotional Disabilities. Many of these kids do not have the tools to cope with stressful or difficult situations. These kids need extra time, attention, and structure to learn healthy and appropriate ways to handle things over which they have no control. Many come from traumatic experiences or past abuse/neglect. The students with these disabilities do not receive as much notoriety in the media because of the stigmatization of mental illness. We have a saying here in my program: "The children who need the most love will ask for it in the most unloving ways." These are MY kids, and I love everyday I get to spend with them. They keep me on my toes! Please consider contributing to their future!
