As I mentioned before, our classroom is filled with 29 unique individuals, and their academic ability is as diverse as they are. One way I like to meet the personal needs of my students, is to create a blended learning classroom. However, my classroom lacks the proper resources to make this happen. We are in desperate need of five Chromebooks so all 29 of my sixth grade students can receive the daily intervention and enrichment they require.
I choose blended learning because it puts 5 more instructors in the classroom. Technology is powerful tool. It gives students instant feedback on what they are practicing. This is crucial to preventing frustration and burnout. With the aid of technology, students will double the amount of time they are receiving instant feedback: when they are working with me in a small group, and when they are working on a specific skill on a Chromebook.
The second reason we desperately need technology in our classroom is: so these 29 creative and determined young people can explore, research, design, and build a passion project by incorporating a Genius Hour program into our weekly routine. During this time, my students will be able to tap into the depths of their passions and creativity. These five Chromebooks will help them achieve this by, becoming a conduit for the knowledge they seek and tool for design. Thank you for choosing to support these incredible young people.
