Students will use these calculators to learn personal finance skills like calculating mock paychecks, taxes rent, utilities wants vs. needs, and personal care as they apply their new finance skills and play/learn the "Game of Life" unit.
Students are engaged, excited and curious throughout this unit. They are shocked as they calculate taxes and insurance and deduct it from their gross income. They are excited to have "roommates" but become disappointed when their roommates cannot cover their rent. They become empowered when they choose their needs over their wants and excited to be able to "deposit" leftover money in their savings account.
These calculators make the calculating process so much easier and allow students to get deeper into learning about how to manage finances.
