One thing my students do not get enough of is news that isn't always negative. I hear stories every few days from my students that they tell me they hear or watch on the news. Along with this they don't understand that there can be "positive" news. That's why I'm asking for 25 Scholastic News Subscriptions so my students can see the positive!
These magazines are informational but also fun and exciting for the kids to receive and take home! The price will give each student a scholastic news each week of the school. By implementing these throughout the weeks of the school year, it will allow my students to have the time and practice to observe and learn how to interact with news articles. It is often overlooked nowadays with Facebook News and social media, that all news isn't real. Helping my classroom have the opportunity to use Scholastic News also allows me to go deeper with the children to try and practice how to spot fake news. The positives are endless!
