Flexible seating allows my students to make choices based on their varied learning styles. It promotes classroom autonomy and allows students to be in control of their learning.
I believe that students learn best when they are comfortable and feel encouraged to be themselves. I have noticed there is a deep connection to the work they are doing when they are allowed to choose where they sit and how they do their work. My students currently love working all over my classroom in a variety of different places, and I would like to support them in their learning choices.
Having headphones also allows students the autonomy of independent work but it also allows them to focus on their learning without disruption from other students.
