Who are my students and what are they like? Well, that is an easy question to answer! In a nutshell, my high school students are bright, funny, adventurous, curious, kind, inquisitive, sneaky, deal-making pranksters who have a deep desire to be happy and successful in life. They work hard to attend classes, make friends, navigate the dating world, and participate in sports.
They also have moderate to severe cognitive and/or physical disabilities, and work incredibly hard to keep up with their same-age peers.
But their disabilities aren't what defines them. Their individual abilities do. The Life Skills program strives to highlight each student's strengths and interests, and teach them the tools they need to be as independent and successful in adulthood as possible.
