My school is an elementary school that serves a student population of approximately 400 students. Additionally, we have special education programs that work include students that are on varying stages of the autism spectrum.
As the music teacher, I teach the entire school community. I see students for two 30-minute sessions each week. Within the general education setting, I teach barred intruments and recorder. Developmental students are included during these music classes. It is during these lessons that I strive for developmentally appropriate, adaptive lessons that engage them.
