These materials will be used to provide my students with more choice during independent reading time. Students in 9th-12th grade are responsible for choosing a book to read during the quarter and completing a project on it, in addition to our regular classroom books. Independent reading helps my students build their literacy skills, including stamina, vocabulary, following plots, seeing character development, and recognizing themes. Students also gain exposure to new experiences and perspectives through literature. My overall goals are to increase literacy skills, broaden horizons, and cultivate a love for reading in my students.
