A typical day for us begins at 9:30 A.M. In my 3rd grade class we work hard from first thing in the morning to last thing in the afternoon. Challenges arrive at least 10 times a day; who didn't get enough sleep, who was unable to see their mom last night because she was incarcerated, or who came to school unprepared because they didn't have a pencil at home. Many of my children come from underprivileged homes and are faced with many difficult situations on a daily basis. That is why I desire to make learning the least challenging situation for them and for my classroom to be a fun learning environment where they feel safe and secure.
