75% of my students come from families where extra money does not go towards art supplies. They are coming from families where there may not be any extra money at all. The supplies from this project will be going towards distance learning supply kits and materials and supplies that will be used in the classroom when we go back to school. I want to be able to provide a space for my students inside the classroom, and at their own homes, where they can be creative, explore new materials, and learn about art for maybe the first time.
Since I am a new teacher to the school, filling a brand new position, my classroom is ill-equipped to be an art studio. I am wanting to create a creative space for my students' full creative expression to be explored! The projects that they will be doing will help them learn about art throughout the ages, artists of color, women artists, and how popular culture ties into the classroom.
