My students attend a K-3 school in San Antonio, Texas. The school is in an urban area of high poverty. For many of my children, what they get at school is all they get. Their parents are working multiple jobs just to barely make ends meet and don't have the time or knowledge of how to help their kids be successful learners. My students are caring and appreciative of everything I give them at school and get so excited over the smallest of things because they don't get a whole lot at home, especially new things.
