My students need grade-level appropriate reading books to advance their reading, vocabulary, and comprehension. I am looking to improve my students' reading abilities and provide them with many book choices. I know that providing them the materials they need to become good readers will only help to encourage their love of reading. I am also looking for a new classroom rug that will serve as a place for me to teach our lessons and for the students to have a comfortable place to read.
Having a classroom library with a variety of books is an effective source of producing fluent readers.
The leveled readers that I am asking will provide my students with access to exciting, current topics and texts. My kindergartners will begin with a unit called “Learning About the World” using nonfiction texts as a springboard, these books will provide my students with background knowledge as well as tapping into their natural curiosity. My kindergartners will read these books during private reading, guided reading and also be able to take them home and read to their families at the end of each week. The motivation that having these books will create, as they choose new books each week that are “just right” for them will be inspiring. I continually collect books by going to library book sales and yard sales however, to have a fully functioning leveled library I simply need more books. With a variety of fiction and nonfiction books, I will be able to meet the needs of my future kindergartners for years to come. Thanks for considering!
