I strive to create a safe, welcoming environment for my students through different classroom themes. Currently, I fluctuate between Alice in Wonderland and rock n' roll as classroom themes. I display motivational quotes corresponding with my themes around my room to motivate and uplift students. I also use colors, custom artwork from myself or my students, stringed lighting, pleasing aromatic scents, and flexible seating to enhance my classroom environment. My students are amazing! They are funny, smart, quirky, and lovable. However, many live in low-income, split homes and therefore seek love and affection from outside the home. My goal is to provide that for them through consistent check-ins via Do Now writing prompts and a "struggle box" in the back of my classroom. Additionally, I encourage students to email me if they have prayer requests, as I will gladly pray for them.
