My classroom environment is something I take pride in. I love for my students to come in and know they are welcome to anything and everything in there. I hope to create a sense of being a "home away from home" for my students because comfort brings joy and we all know that when our hearts are happy, we do our best.
I would love to give my students flexible seating for small groups, group activities, and lessons on the carpet.
Even though they're in fifth grade and want to believe they are grown, they still love to come to the carpet for morning meetings and reading time. This project will help provide them with materials to make small groups more comfortable and give them the ability to move around the classroom to work. I have seen first hand how small group time not only grows students, but creates a sense of community. The students work together towards the same goal, and learn how to give helping hands when a peer is in need. Seeing this in action is unlike any other, that is why I want to be able to provide them with comfort while they indulge in learning.
