By receiving iPad Minis for my classroom, I will be able to incorporate a more up-to-date use of technology in my classroom. Each afternoon, my students work through several reading stations. I call this "Must Do, May Do". During "Must Do, May Do", students complete required reading and literary tasks and then gain the freedom to choose something they may do.
The type of technology that is currently used in my classroom during this time, are three (dated) desktop computers and a Smart Board. This, essentially, only services four students during their "May Do" time. By adding two iPad minis, the number of students who are getting hands-on technology time during centers will increase. The kid friendly protective cases will protect these devices, ensuring they are available to my students for years to come!
Not only will these iPads be used for reading stations, but we can also use them during our morning math block. They can be used by students with special needs who may struggle with pencil and paper due to their lack of fine motor development.
