Under normal circumstances, kindergartners get to learn all about themselves and each other, as well as what it means to be part of different communities, when they come to school. While COVID-19 has limited where, when and with whom we can interact, these little 5- and 6-year-olds are still counting on us for building a strong foundation of personal, social and academic growth. The stories you provide will help students navigate the wonders and challenges of being human themselves and interacting with other humans - something we're ALL still figuring out!
We'll engage with, and get to know, each other online through the pages of these books - then find familiarity and commonality with the stories and with one another when we unite in person (fingers crossed)! We're not letting a pandemic get in our way!
In addition, these books are resources for our families. They'll be able to access videos of me reading to their children from their homes and will be supported in having family conversations about the many topics covered. We're expanding our home and classroom libraries, our knowledge, skills and communication!
