My school is an inner city school in Illinois, and one of the last original schools in the city. I will have around 20 students in my 1st grade classroom this year however the mobility rate is sometimes very high. Most come from low-income, working class families that may sometimes struggle to get their children the basic necessities, so they are grateful for whatever they are given. School for the students sometimes is a safe place where they can enjoy coming everyday and learning new things. The students are so sweet and always telling you "hello" and giving you hugs. They are willing to help out extra whenever they are needed. For most of the students the teachers are their best role models. These kids are no different than any other kid in the city. They enjoy the same things most 8 years enjoy from TV shows, cartoons, music, and the chance to learn.
