My job, as a special education teacher, is to not only to teach academics, but also to help students learn skills needed to be successful in life. Many students with special needs become dependent on teachers and aids. With the C-Pen and Book reader pens, struggling readers will be able to read text in class independently. This will make them more confident and more independent in their learning.
Independence increases self-confidence and increased self-confidence increases students' excitement and success in learning! Students need to learn time regulation and goal-setting. The visual timers allow them to regulate their work independently.
Finally, many students struggle with hyperactvity, distractability, and sensory regulation problems. These all disrupt learning. Through the use of multisensory teaching, the students become more regulated and are then more ready to learn. All of these techniques together will allow my students to be successful, independent learners!
