My school is in a low-income area with a high ESOL population. I specifically teach 2nd grade with ESOL students who are beginners, Special Ed students who don't know their alphabet, and Regular Ed students reading anywhere from Kindergarten levels to 3rd grade levels.
Many students knew no English just two years ago and now are just about at level. They all want to learn and have fun doing it. Technology of all sorts seems to be the way to go.
