Students need structure and organization skills. By getting hall passes, students will develop a routine of asking for permission and taking a pass to be outside of the classroom. This routine is important because it is a safety issue if a student does not inform a teacher before leaving the classroom. Student also need envelope, folders, and binder clips to help support their organization.
Math is more than just getting the right or wrong answers. There are lot of interactions within math, which is why an easel board and markers are needed to give students opportunities to share their ideas with their peers. The students may do so through drawing their thinking or writing out their thoughts on a poster paper. This is important, especially for ENL students who may communicate better with visuals. Students also interact with math by using glue stick and tape, to attach foldables or score sheets that contain mathematical ideas onto their notebook.
Many of my students are new to the school and country, so they might not have the supplies they need. The requested paper will be enough for students to temporarily have something to record on.
