Presently, I teach elementary/middle school music (4-8) at a high needs public school in Illinois where most of our students are either on free or reduced lunch. Due to budget cuts, the school is unable to fund a music program for the school. Studies have shown that playing musical instruments has been linked to greater student achievement in school. Music, being an interdisciplinary subject, encompasses all subjects students encounter during their education. The students at this school are very enthusiastic about music and should have a top notch music program. This can only be possible with your help!
