Student engagement and technology go hand in hand! My second grade students come to school early just to have additional time to use our chrome books. Throughout the school day technology supports my students knowledge and practice of literacy, math and STEM. In addition, familiarity and experience with programs such as Google Docs and Google Slides prepares them for the future endeavors as students, and ultimately with college and career readiness.
Many of the tasks and practice assigned on the chrome books includes sound. Without headsets the noise level in the room increases, students cannot hear and decipher the story, instructions or practice coming from their chrome book, and concentration is difficult.
With a class set of head sets, these problems would be solved. My students could listen to literature and watch educational videos. In addition, they could practice their math facts and coding skills using engaging (but noisy) computer games. Also, it would allow increased concentration during our online monthly assessments.
